Ladies' Groups
The United Church has done an extensive study of the many kinds of Ladies' groups operating at different United Churches, and have suggested the WMN link all of them together.
The ladies Red Deer Lake have been involved in a large number of groups and projects in the past and we thank Jan Jordan and Cheryl Boyko for their leadership in identifying and trying to organize all of these groups in some order!
Jan and Cheryl have identified two arms of programs - a "Social, Educational and Spiritual" arm also known as Sister Friends, and a "Working" arm to provide Event Support. Event Support will provide services for the church such as catering for funerals, events, etc., casserole and cookie bank, and kitchen and pantry organization. All women of the congregation are encouraged to become involved with programs of interest.
Sister Friends
Coordinators: Amber Den Hoed and Cathy Rouleau email
Sister Friends is the ladies social group where women participate in a variety of activities planned throughout the year on a monthly basis. Some examples of these activities are potluck meals, bowling, crafts, and retreats. Sister Friends is not a monthly commitment, but a come-when-the-activity-interests-you event.
Watch for other activities planned for the coming months. Events will be posted on the Church calendar and the Special Events page.
Jan Jordan and I have a plan in place for the year for Sister Friends' activities. What we need now is for two or three of you to be hostesses for each of these events. That would involve choosing a date, booking the venue, putting up a poster, and sign up sheet - pretty easy stuff. We have October and November covered off, so just need assistance with December to June. Make your choice early. There are some real easy ones!!! So talk to each other and let me know which month you would like to do. Thank you so much for all your help. What's that old saying about "many hands make small work". Let's do it and have some fun!!!!!
