Facility Description
Red Deer Lake United Church has a variety of spaces and rooms available as listed below. As the church construction continues, there will be additional areas available in the near future. Those who have log-in priveleges can use the global Church calendar to determine location availability.
Groups interested in booking events should contact the Church Office.
Sanctuary (S)
The sanctuary was constructed in 2004 and is a modern multi-use facility. There is a seating capacity of 350. A baby grand piano, electric keyboard and sound system are available for use. The chancel area is flexible, with movable risers, a Sprung floor, and backstage areas, which make this room very versatile for concerts, musical and dance recitals, and theatre productions. The sanctuary is now equipped with a 9x12 foot projection screen system.
Chapel (Ch)
The chapel area is the original 1909 church with a very quaint and warm feel with wood panelling and pews. Installation is now complete of the south wall which showcases eight stain-glassed windows created by one of our members. These windows were once located in the Midlands United Church building and were transferred to Red Deer Lake United Church when the Midlands congregation moved to RDLUC in 2007. This is an ideal location for a small wedding. The seating capacity is for about 75 people.
Lower Hall (LH)
The lower hall is located under the Sanctuary. This is a flexible room that can be subdivided into smaller areas as required. As part of the construction phase currently underway, a new commercial style kitchen is in the works and it is anticipated that it will be open in the Fall of 2008.
Upper Foyer (UF) and Link (L)
The Upper Foyer is also known as "The Link" because it is the large open area which joins the administration annex and the Chapel with the Sanctuary.The Link provides a wonderful westward view of the Memorial Garden and mountains. At this time, there is a flexible space for small meetings. It must be noted that this area is not private. There is a kitchen facility in this area and it is available as part of your booking.
Youth Room (YR)
The Youth Room is furnished with comfortable chairs and sofa for a more relaxed atmosphere. A group of 10 people can comfortably meet in this room which is located in the lower level.
Garden Room (GR)
The Garden Room is located in the lower level of the church at the south end of the Lower Hall. This area is furnished with a piano, sofas, chairs and many tropical plants and provides a casual meeting space for about 15 people. There are privacy curtains available to make the space more cozy. Note: this room is wheelchair accessible.

Weddings

There are two locations for holding a wedding at the church: Sanctuary and Chapel. The Sanctuary is an ideal location for a large gathering of people. The Chapel is the original 1909 Red Deer Lake United Church and provides a quaint surrounding for those intimate small weddings. Rev. Jim Hillson is also available to preside over weddings not held at the church. Rates and booking requirements can be discussed with the Church Office.
Funerals

Rev. Jim Hillson and the Pastoral Care Team are available to assist you in dealing with a passing of a loved one. During your time of bereavement, funeral service arrangements can be made through the Church Office. Please contact the church office by phone at 403-256-3181 or the Emergency Pastoral Care line at 403-540-5966 .
Baptism
Baptism is available for anyone at any age. Children, youth and adults may be baptized during a Sunday Service. Various dates are available and are arranged through the office. Baptism classes are held prior to the event and are led by the minister.
The next scheduled Baptisms are for October 12, and November 16, 2008. There is a mandatory Baptism class , which is currently scheduled for November 10, 2008 at 7pm. Future baptisms are scheduled based on requests. If you are interested in baptism for either yourself or your child, please make arrangements through the Church Office.

Additional Information
Pianist
Groups using the Sanctuary and Chapel can also make arrangements to have a Pianist as part the booking. There is a pianist available for booking through the church, depending on the Pianist's personal schedules.
Sound Team
The Sanctuary is equipped with a sound system, which includes podium and wireless hand-held and lapel microphones. Rental policies are in place for the use of the sound system (by an approved operator), or to have the church's Sound Team operate the system. Arrangements for use of the sound system must be made at the time of booking.
Caretaking
Depending on the size of the event, caretaking charges may also apply. This will be discussed at time of booking.
