Living the Question

Five week program beginning September 22, 2008

A DVD & Web based small group program of Christian invitation, initiation and spiritual formation.  Faith is not a destination, but a journey, so join us every Monday starting September 22/08 for 5 weeks to look deeper into your faith.  This course is not for the literalists but for the inquiring mind.  If you wish to attend, please contact Pat Claydon or sign up after church on Sundays.

SERVE & SUP AT THE DROP IN AND REHAB CENTRE

OCTOBER 1ST FROM 5.30pm - 8:30pm

Serve: Fran & Andy Porter are kindly sponsoring the meal.  To Support & Serve we need 30 people to sign up. It is suggested that a $20.00 donation for each server (this is not mandatory your presence is more important)  for the privilege of serving. The money is to be used for the next Drop In Centre meal in the spring. 

Sup: After Supporting and Serving we will have a pot luck supper back at the church to finish the evening.

Men's Breakfast Club Meetings for 2008-09

Men are invited to meet at the church for breakfast, fellowship and listen to a guest speaker. If you could help with food preparation or have any question about the Men's Breakfast Club, contact Doug Den Hoed.

The Senior Choir will begin practicing for the Christmas Cantata performance on October 2. Choir practices will continue weekly on Thursday evenings at 8:15pm. Closer to the performance, there will be additional practices scheduled. Practices for the acting parts has not yet been established. If you are interested in singing, acting (1 part: Worship leader) or providing production support, please contact Lisa Fernandes.

Sister Friends Dream Workshop

September 20, 2008

Mark your calendars for an interesting event coming in the fall! Saturday morning, September 20, from 9:00 to 12:30 you will have the opportunity to take part in a DREAM WORKSHOP. Presenting the workshop will be Sister Ita Connery fcJ, from the FCJ (Faithful Companions of Jesus) Christian Education Center in Calgary. Ita has a certificate in Jungian Psychology and is extensively educated in Ignation Spirituality and Myers Briggs Personality Typing. She is also a certified Mid-Life Counselor. Spending the morning with her will be an enjoyable and enlightening experience. Something to look forward to!

Cost for the workshop is $5.00. The committee is also requesting the assistance of four hostesses to help with set up, clean up and the preparation and serving of a light snack, tea and coffee. If you would like to register for this workshop or help as a hostess, contact the organizing committee.

Communion is served on a monthly basis from September to June. Check the church calendar for exact dates. All are welcome to share at God's table.

Wisdom Circle

Monthly on the First Monday
 

A social group for ladies and gentlemen aged 55+ years.   We meet the first Monday of each month in the church basement. The Wisdom Circle will be taking a break over the summer holidays and their first meeting in the fall will be on September 8. You are welcome to join us to get to know other seniors in the congregation. For further information, contact Marg.

Time to meet and greet again, after our summer break.  Monday Sept.8th at 12PM, we will share a Pot Luck Dinner, buns, tea and coffee will be provided.  We will share plans together, for the up coming year, and also have a few laughs. Please come and bring a friend, or several friends.

Inn From the Cold

Monthly on the Last Saturday
 

On the last Saturday of each month, Red Deer Lake hosts Inn from the Cold, to provide overnight shelter, a hot meal and the next day provide a nourishing breakfast and lunch for 15 to 20 homeless guests. Volunteers are needed to provide food donations, meal preparation, bed set-up, overnight supervision, and church clean-up.
